Happy Diwali!!

Happy (indian) new year everyone!!

Diwali is one of the biggest festival that Hindus celebrate with great enthusiasm and happiness in India. The festival is celebrated for five continuous days, where the third days is celebrated as the main Diwali festival or “Festival of Lights” Different colorful varieties of fireworks are always associated with this festival. On this auspicious day, people light up diyas {top right hand image in the picture above} and candles all around their house. They perform Laxmi Puja in the evening and see divine blessing of the Goddess of Wealth. The festival is never complete without exchange of gifts {I gave everyone a plate filled with Indian sweets and snacks), to all dear ones.

The top left picture is not something i drew, but the two bottom left and right hand corners are the two rangoli’s I drew in front of my house of a Peacock and a Ganesh!!!

So I wanted to raffle off this painting and donate 50% of the ticket sales to the American Red Cross to Save the Children to help the victims of the Nepal Earthquake. I will hold the raffle open till next week May 13, 2015!

Help Nepal Raffle

Once the raffle closes I will randomly select one of you to win my Tropical Paradise painting!!

When you have the opportunity to give, the world gives back. It’s the law of the universe. Can you imagine being in such a traumatic disaster and not even having any warm clothes, or even a family member to tell you everything will be alright? Its our duty to at least do a small part to make sure they have medical aide and food in their bellies, especially since we can’t be there to help out or give them a hug.

 Thank You for your support!

Rose Song

Hey guys!! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so I wanted to share with you all something that I have been working on and off for the past few months. I used to play the piano (not very well) so I have always had an appreciation for classical music. I found an image of a broken piano and some beautiful roses, and those photographs inspired me to do a pencil sketch of a combination of the two.

I think so far this is one of my favorite sketches! I hope you guys like it too.

xoxo
