Navratri is my favorite time of the year. I love all the colors and getting the chance to dress up is always fun!!
The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshiped. The 10th day is commonly referred to as Dussehra. Navratri is a very important and major festival in the western state of Gujarat, Maharashtra, karnataka during which the traditional dance of Gujarat called ‘Garba’ is widely performed.
I didn’t get the chance to go for all nine days, but I would love to go to India one year to get the full Navratri experience!!
Here are the outfits I wore for the days I was able to go!! 🙂
For this look I lined my upper and lower lash lines as well as my water liners with a kajal eyeliner pencil, and I used as gold eyeshadow for my lids, and blended a sparkly black shadow to the outer corners of the lid to create a subtle smokey eye effect, my shadows are from an urban decay makeup pallet. I paired this look with my favorite bare minerals lipstick, which I have shown in an older post.
For my makeup I used a kajal eyeliner pencil, and I did a smokey pink and black eyeshadow look to match my outfit. I wore a light red lipstick that blends well with my skintone, and completed the look with some waterproof mascara.
The original blouse for this outfit was beautiful but not really my style so I took a plain purple blouse that I found, in the huge pile of extra sari blouses my mom has, and stitched crystal beads onto the back of the blouse..to spruse it up a bit so it wasn’t so plain. I sewed them in diamond shapes to match the diamond embroidered patter that is all over the skirt.!!v 🙂
Hope you Enjoy!!
